Meet Miss Intermission

“Being Miss Intermission has been the most rewarding experience of my life.”

With these simple words, an icon of the Seattle theater scene was born. When she was just a little girl, Miss Intermission’s mother took her to see a play. Suddenly, right when things were really starting to get interesting, the lights went out! When they came back up, the actors were gone. Disappeared. Vanished. The audience started to stand up and talk amongst themselves. The little girl who would become the one and only Empress of Interlude was terrified. She’d never felt so alone. In a panic she turned to her mother and said, “Mommy where did the wonderful actors go? Why did it suddenly go dark? Why?” Her mother looked down at her sweetly and said “Don’t worry dear, they’ll be back. It’s just the Intermission. The play is not over, it’s just a break.”

At that moment, this once and future Regent of Recess had found her mission. She would travel this great land, or at least this greater Seattle area, letting all of the terrified children know that the darkness would not last forever, that the light would, in fact, be back. She would be that messenger, she would lead the children out of said darkness and let them know that the play was NOT over, that it was simply intermission, that it was just a break.

It was then that her beautiful mother bequeathed to her the very sash and tiara that she herself had once worn. Dubbing herself Miss Intermission, our illustrious Queen of Quiescency set out. From that day forward she has traveled our great city and beyond as a moderately famous local celebrity-for-hire who attends theatrical events and special functions in order that she might bring a touch of sparkle, a sprinkle of happiness and a smattering of infinite wisdom to you, the unwashed (no offense) masses.
